A bunk bed is a combination of beds stacked on top each other that offer many advantages over a regular bed. For one they offer space saving features for families with limited floor space and more than one child.

Types of bunk beds

• A standard bunk bed has two of the exact same size mattreses directly on top of one another.
• A twin over full has a larger, full size, mattress on the bottom and a smaller twin size mattress on top.
• A futon bunk is similar to a standard bunk bed, with the exception that on the lower portion is a futon that doubles as both a bed and couch.
• An L-shape has two mattresses in addition to an alcove where a desk is located.
• A loft bed is a space efficient setup that has only one top bunk mattress, and uses the remaining space for storage such as drawers, desks, stowable areas, or a chest. These beds are often more pricey as they offer many fancy storage features not found on other bunk beds.
• A College Dorm Loft is the ultimate in space saving efficiency. This form of bunk bed can be lifted up off the floor to allow the space to be utilized when not in use.
